Phantom setup - Desktop

This guide will help you create a new Phantom wallet on your desktop browser.

Phantom is a secure and easy-to-use wallet for the Solana blockchain.

Download Phantom for Desktop​

  1. Visit the Download Page: Go to https://phantom.app/download and select your browser.

  2. Add the Extension: Follow the steps in your browser's extension store to add the Phantom wallet extension. After installing, Phantom should open in a new tab.

    Note: Ensure you're installing the official browser extension by downloading it directly from the Phantom.app website.

Setting Up Your Desktop Wallet​

For New Users:​

  1. Create a New Wallet: Click on "Create New Wallet."

  2. Set a Password: Create a secure password to access your new wallet on this device and browser profile.

  3. Confirm Password: Enter your password again and select "Continue."

  4. Secure Your Secret Recovery Phrase: You'll be presented with your Secret Recovery Phrase (also known as a 'seed phrase'). Store it in a safe and secure location.

Important

Anyone with access to your Secret Recovery Phrase can access your wallet's funds. Losing your Secret Recovery Phrase means losing access to your wallet and its funds. Phantom team members will never ask for your Secret Recovery Phrase. The Secret Recovery Phrase is the only way to recover your wallet.

  1. Proceed: After securing your Secret Recovery Phrase, select "Continue" to proceed.

Accessing Your Browser Wallet​

  • Locate Phantom: Find the Phantom icon on the top right-hand side of your browser's toolbar.

  • Missing Icon?: If you don't see Phantom, click the puzzle piece icon to access your browser’s extensions and locate Phantom.

  • Pin Phantom: Click the pin icon next to Phantom to make it visible in the extension bar for easy access.
